(Karen) The last two days in Estes Park have been amazing. Yesterday we went hiking up a trail that had a bunch of waterfalls. Elizabeth did so great, she decided in Moab that she didn’t like hiking, but she changed her mind yesterday and walked over a mile by herself. After we got home Scott taught Elizabeth how to fish and much fun was had although no fish were harmed (or caught). At the end Elizabeth wanted to take the worm off the hook herself (I practically barfed).
Today in the morning we drove back up to the “Alpine Tundra” of the Park. The main reason was so that Elizabeth could make a snow angel in a snow field. Then we hiked a trail with a bunch of lakes and Elizabeth was pretty insistent on walking by herself a good bit of it (i.e. not sitting in the backpack). She kept stopping to look at leaves, flowers, bugs, rocks, etc., eventually I sighed and said “so much touching”, she responded with “but mom, hiking is all about touching”. So true.
The third day in Colorado we drove into Denver for a taste of urban living… and Anthropologie J (my favorite store). We watched the movie “Cars”. Great movie, and so luxurious to be back in the city.
