Anchorage and Homer

We spent a few days in Anchorage and then drove to the Kenai Peninsula to Homer which is on the coast... the weather has been very grey, rainy and cold (40s/50s). Which I know sounds just lovely to al our friends in Texas.

As a result of the weather we haven't been quite as hard core as we would like to me (because you know it's all about being Hard Core). Elizabeth is currently singing "rain, rain go away".

We went to some cool exhibits and a children's museum in Anchorage. Our camper is broken (the converter) and so we took it to the shop where they are going to order a part.

We drove to Homer yesterday (Thursday, Aug 3rd). An incredible drive through forests, beside volcanoes, waterfalls and the Cook Inlet. We bought fishing gear for Scott and Elizabeth because fishing is definitely THE thing to do here... so today our big task is to CATCH A FISH!! Elizabeth is SO psyched about catching a fish, but once you catch the fish there are rules about what you're supposed to do to it to kill it (yucky and violent things). So we'll see how things go... we'll keep you posted and be sure to take a picture if the big event occurs.

The landscape and weather reminds me of times when my family visited the north of Scotland... shades of grey, but so desolate and beautiful and wistful.
